The recommended way to install Butterfly on Android is through the store. This ensures that you always have the latest version and updates automatically.

Verify APK authenticity

The GitHub APKs linked above use the same SHA-256 signing certificate fingerprint for stable and nightly releases, all architectures, and legacy packaging. The certificate fingerprint identifies the signer; an APK file checksum identifies a specific download.

To verify Butterfly with AppVerifier, copy or share the block for your installed version to AppVerifier and compare it with the installed app’s verification info.

You can also verify a downloaded APK with apksigner, included in the Android SDK Build Tools:

apksigner verify --print-certs linwood-butterfly-android.apk

Check that verification succeeds and that the Signer #1 certificate SHA-256 digest matches the fingerprint above, ignoring letter case and colons.
